HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE: Provide engineering support and work alongside Engineering & Operations to assist in vehicle upfitting. This will include developing solutions for a variety of technical problems by: Producing detailed drawings on the computer aided drafting software. Entering and maintaining Bill of Material structures in the computerized system. Assisting with building prototypes, including assembling, testing and accumulating and compiling test data. Maintaining and updating ECN, blueprints, CAD files and other documentation. Assisting with developing installation instruction manuals, mechanics guides, and other literature. Participating on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of safety processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs. Working from Drawings to fabricate, Machine, weld, and assemble parts, fixtures, models, carts, etc. as required. Writing and assisting with training of Job Instructions. Supporting 5S and other lean activities as required. Completing and maintaining all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc. Working in a safe manner while reporting any unsafe conditions. Following all Company and department procedures and policies. Complete other reasonably related duties as assigned. WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS: Mathematical proficiency; includes but is not limited to calculating proportions, percentages, areas, ratios, circumference, and volume. Apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry and trigonometry. Working knowledge of CAD(SolidWorks) software and Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to use a variety of small hand and power tools, tool room machines, calculator, telephone, photocopier, plotter, fax, etc. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A "hands-on" mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. Ability to wear required PPE. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Associates degree, preferably in engineering. Or high school diploma with four to seven years of progressive experience. Or a combination of education and experience. PHYSICAL & MENTAL ENVIRONMENT: Position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time in an office setting and the shop floor. Position requires the ability of fine motor skills to pinch, handle or feel items and use the computer. Position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds. Position requires the ability to close vision, adjust focus, and discriminate between red, green and white. Position will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, noise, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. Position will occasionally require travel and overtime.
